Replacing your cars coolant on a regular basis will prolong the life of the radiator, thermostat and other cooling system components, saving you money over time on costly repairs. Many factory maintenance schedules call for coolant changes every three years or 50,000 miles. At the bare minimum the factory recommendations may be okay, but we recommend coolant be changed every 2 years of 22,000 miles – whichever happens first. There are even some who argue that yearly coolant changes for vehicles with bi-metal engines (aluminum heads/magnesium or cast iron blocks) and/or aluminum radiators are a good idea. If you wait too long, the result can be expensive internal corrosion in the radiator, heater core and engine, which can lead to expensive repair bills.

When you bring your vehicle to Dyno-Tune for coolant system service, we normally advise that the entire system be reverse flushed instead of just drained. This helps dislodge any debris in the system and also removes old coolant that would otherwise remain in the engine block. We also inspect belts and hoses leaks, pressure test radiator, and check operation of the heating system.
